The Story of Winnebago Industries
Winnebago Industries is the largest Motorhome Manufacturer in Australia.
The roots of Winnebago Industries go back to 1965, with the formation of Freeway. Bruce Binns, with the assistance of his wife Ruth, introduced the first Freeway slide on camper to Australia. They progressed with the Freeway name producing motorhomes, caravans and tent trailers.
In 1977, FREEWAY CAMPER COMPANY name was changed to WINNEBAGO INDUSTRIES, concentrating only on motorhomes and slide ons.
In 1988, Winnebago Industries moved from Smithfield, New South Wales (NSW) to Wetherill Park NSW. Over the course of 10 years, Winnebago Industries grew from producing in one factory to four factories, concentrating solely on motorhomes.
The range- Freeway Explorer (Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth), Wanderer and Chinook. Today Winnebago Industries motorhome range includes Classic, Menindee, Longreach, Esperance, Birdsville Elite and Birdsville - more than 70 models in total.
In 2000, Winnebago Industries purchased a 4 hectare (10acre) block of land at Emu Plains NSW. By January 2001, Winnebago Industries settled into their new premises.
In 2010 Winnebago entered into the Campervan market with the Escape and Diversion models.

Currently Winnebago Industries employees over 190 dedicated workers who produce approximately 600 Winnebago RVs per year. We currently have fourteen Dealers in our network of Dealers throughout Australia and New Zealand.
